Girl In The Red Dress, the Chicago-based singer whose music has already generated a surge of interest across online music retailers and latex fetish fans alike, made a storming world debut as a live act in New York City on October 21st 2009.

Performing the three songs from the ‘Disguise’ EP, the Girl played as part of the Chashama Film Festival‘s opening night festivities. The gig was the curtain raiser for a showing of the new movie ‘Dirty Step Upstage’, in which she appears.

Girl In The Red Dress sings dark-edged pop, setting themes of lost love and heartbreak against unstoppably infectious beats.

Influenced by Nine Inch Nails, Michael Jackson, and Madonna among others, the stories she sings are drawn straight out of real-life anguish.

Her new release was recorded in Chicago and masterminded by acclaimed producer Chris G, while two tracks feature the signature playing of former Dio lead guitarist Rowan Robertson.

The ‘Disguise’ EP is available through iTunes, Soundclick and other online suppliers, with a physical release due shortly.

As the perfect end to the Girl’s New York adventure, ‘Dirty Step Upstage’ collected an award at the festival. Amber Moelter, who plays the Girl and composed the songs on the EP, won the Best Actress award for her work in the film.

About Amber Moelter:

Amber Moelter hails originally from South Dakota, but has performed as an actor, dancer and singer on four continents.

While living in London she starred in several independent films including ‘Cross-Eyed Waltz’ which launched her career as a producer and for which she forfeited her paycheck to help out the director.

After returning to the USA she produced, co-wrote, and starred in the short fan film ‘Catwoman: Resolution,’ which inaugurated her production company ALM Talkies.

Her portrayals of Catwoman have caught the attention of latex fetish fans worldwide and been featured in Marquis magazine and elsewhere.

American indie sensation Ingrid Michaelson, whose album ‘Everybody’ is released in the UK on 19 October, 2009, will make a different track from the album available to fans every day until the release. The tracks each have a video introduction from Ingrid, and can be streamed from her ‘Ing TV’ widget below.

‘Everybody’ is Ingrid’s first UK release, and will be followed by the single “Maybe” on 16 November.

In the US, she has become probably the most successful unsigned artist in history. She has sold over 400,000 copies of her debut album out of her manager’s office, and her track “The Way I Am” was downloaded over 1.5 million times after being featured on an Old Navy commercial. She’s appeared on Good Morning America, Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno, and been on the cover of Billboard.

Her UK profile seems likely to rocket, with “Maybe” already receiving huge Radio 2 support and a London Scala show booked for 23 November. Ingrid has also written the track “Parachutes” for Cheryl Cole, which will be a future single from Cole’s debut album.

SYNOPSIS

Taking Woodstock is directed by Academy Award®-winner Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain) with a screenplay by James Schamus (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Ice Storm), based on the book Taking Woodstock by Elliot Tiber.

The film stars Demetri Martin (Important Things with Demetri Martin on Comedy Central) as Elliot Tiber, Emile Hirsch (Milk, Into the Wild), and Liev Schreiber (Defiance).

It’s 1969, and Elliot Tiber, a down-on-his-luck interior designer in Greenwich Village, New York, has to move back upstate to help his parents run their dilapidated Catskills motel, the El Monaco. The bank is about to foreclose; his father wants to burn the place down, but hasn’t paid the insurance; and Elliot is still figuring how to come out to his parents.

When Elliot hears that a neighboring town has pulled the permit on a hippie music festival, he calls the producers, thinking he could drum up some much needed business for the motel. Three weeks later, half a million people are on their way to his neighbor’s farm in White Lake, NY, and Elliot finds himself swept up in a generation-defining experience that would change his life, and American culture, forever.

Release date: 13th November 2009

…AND THEN WE JUMPED INTO THE ABYSS OF NUMBERS:
Memories in Absurdity From the Bowels of Peru Ana Ana Peru

October 17 – November 14
Brooklynite Gallery

OPENING NIGHT – October 17th, 2009, 7:00pm – 10:00pm

MUSICAL GUEST: BOMB SQUAD

You’ve seen it on the streets – just a black square with white text. Two names, a mirror image of themselves. These discreet signs of whoever or whatever refers to itself as PERU ANA ANA PERU are backed up by an eclectic collection of ornately designed pieces of artwork– pasted, fastened, scribbled or dangling to your left or right.

WHO ARE THEY? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

We are often asked these questions. PERU ANA ANA PERU’s use of different mediums is a treat if you enjoy such things and will certainly cut up a neat freak looking to compartmentalize them. Well we may not have all the answers you’ve been searching for, but we do have their first solo show and hope to bring you as close to their identities as you have been so far.

“…And Then We Jumped into the Abyss of Numbers: Memories in Absurdity From the Bowels of Peru Ana Ana Peru”, is the title of their exhibition. A bit long? –Maybe. Very telling? –Yes. Their “abyss of numbers” will explore the unknown, the bizarre and the surreal through multi-media paintings/drawings, sculpture and installations. Video art pieces telling strange narratives will be a key focus of the work and will offer viewers yet another peek into this duo’s collective psyche. This work, harmonious with a gallery space, is also intimately connected to their street presence. At their request, we dizzily revel in the irrational.

As a much added bonus, the soundtrack to the opening night event will be performed by BOMB SQUAD [Hank Shocklee; Future Frequency]. The force behind Public Enemy and some of the most significant albums of all time with a preview of the new upcoming album of futuristic dub and live electronics.

Brooklynite Gallery hours are Thursday – Saturday from 1:00pm – 7:00pm or by appointment.

While Picture Me Broken was not live on stage with Green Day, Beyonce, Muse or Taylor Swift at MTV’s 2009 VMAs, the MTV feature on this high energy young band landed them a hard earned award as the VMAs MTV’s 2009 “SF Best Bay Area Breakout Artist”. The award was sponsored by Our Stage and MTV.

Picture Me Broken which is fronted by LAYLA BROOKLYN ALLMAN, (the 16-year old daughter of legendary R&R Hall of Famer GREGG ALLMAN), and their song “Dearest (I’m So Sorry)” whose live video was featured on MTV2 has been blazing a trail with teen fans that can instantly relate to both the sentiment of the lyrics and the scorching delivery of the track.

The band started out as four 12-year olds playing covers for fun, but fueled by passion and determination, they have emerged as a serious contender.

Watch “Dearest I’m So Sorry” video:

“She’s got it in her blood…” remarks her famous father, who most likely is all but unknown to PMB’s growing legion of young fans!

PMB has played prestigious SF venues like “Bottom of the Hill,” grabbed an opening slot at the Shoreline Amphitheatre for Linkin Park’s Project Rev in 2008 and more recently played the 2009 SF Warped Tour.

Now they have just released their debut EP, DEAREST I’M SO SORRY.

As if reacting to the frightening state of the world they are growing up in, PICTURE ME BROKEN’S debut EP contains rites of passage themes, in the language of their peers.

Largely produced by Aveneged Sevenfold’s producer Mudrock (the title track was produced by Aaron Hellman at the Bay Area’s own Castle Ultimate Studios), the EP displays that it’s not only Layla Allman who’s talented, good-looking and charismatic, but the rest of the band members level the playing field: NICK LOIACONO (lead guitar), AUSTIN DUNN (bass) and CONNOR LUNG (drums).

Indeed, Picture Me Broken’s music all but redefines what will be expected from “kid bands” as there is nothing about PMB’s catchy driving rock that separates them from significantly more seasoned acts. Nothing shows this off more poignantly than the growing fan base on www.myspace.com/picturemebroken which continues to rave with surprise that there is a new band out there fronted by a “hot girl who can sing AND scream.”

Picture Me Broken will be featured on the front page of Purevolume.com on Sept 18, 2009 performing the first of many Hot Topic appearances on Sept 17th, and hosting an industry showcase in Los Angeles on October 16th 2009.

EMI, Hot Topic and The Almost create a new retail model pre-release of Monster Monster full-length November 3rd

Special Two-Disc package available for pre-order at Hot Topic October 6, includes blank disc for free album download day of release, EP also on sale at all tour dates

Tooth & Nail/Virgin Records (EMI) rock band The Almost have created a Monster.

‘Monster Monster’ is the five-piece rock group’s sophomore album, the follow-up to 2007′s ‘Southern Weather’, which scored a #7 Modern Rock single in “Say This Sooner,” a slot on MTV‘s prestigious Discover & Download program and a quarter-million in sales after debuting in the Top 40 on the Billboard Top 200 with 29k+.

Buy Music:

The Almost on amazon.com

Formed by Underoath drummer Aaron Gillespie along with guitarists Jay Vilardi and Dusty Redmon, bassist Alex Aponte and newest member, drummer Joe Musten, The Almost’s ‘Monster Monster’ represents the culmination of two years of touring, with the resulting disc a melding of the group’s individual talents into a truly collaborative effort. Before the release, The Almost will release a new video to fans, which will be followed by their lead anthemic rock single “Hands.”

The album is slated for release on November 3, 2009, but will be preceded by a Limited Edition special five-track EP entitled the Monster EP, featuring three album cuts and two B-sides. The EP will be available on October 6th exclusively at Hot Topic stores, the band’s website, as well as on the band’s upcoming tour.

The Monster EP will come in a special two-disc digi-pack, with a choice of five different covers.

In an unprecedented new model for music delivery, EMI and Hot Topic will offer this Limited Edition EP packaging, which includes one disc with the EP’s music and a second blank CD with Monster Monster’s full-length artwork, lyrics and printed track listing on the physical CD, but no music. Fans will be able to download every song through a special promotional code on the day of actual physical release, November 3, from ShockHound.com the MP3, merch and editorial site (www.ShockHound.com), which is a division of Hot Topic, Inc. The version streeting on Nov. 3 will not include the special five-cover packaging or the Limited Edition EP.

“We feel strongly that physical retail is still viable and important. We are using the highly successful instant gratification model proven in the digital world but putting our own spin on it and bringing it to 681 Hot Topic stores,” says Randy Nichols, manager of The Almost.

During the tour, the band will make stops at select Hot Topic stores for exclusive in-store performances and signings.

Gillespie, who played all the instruments on The Almost’s first album, is thrilled the way the group began to mesh on Monster Monster, and the band itself is raring to go out and play the new songs for their rabid, loyal fan base.

“This now feels like a real band,” he says. “Everyone gave up a piece of his own agenda for the good of the final result. And that’s how you end up with something special. They supplied the bricks and we built this house together.”

The Almost begin their own headlining tour September 23, 2009 at the State Theater in St. Petersburg, FL. through October 6 at SOMA in San Diego, CA, with The Used jaunt beginning the very next day, October 9, in Las Vegas.

“We plan on hitting it as hard as we can,” says Vilardi. “We’d like to leave and not come back for two years.”

Fourth studio album In And Out Of Control available for pre-order now on iTunes, out October 6th on Vice Records

No doubt die-hard fans of the Danish noise-pop duo The Raveonettes trembled with excitement when they previewed a demo version of “Last Dance” this June.

Three months later, the band is releasing the final version of the song as the lead off single from their forthcoming album ‘In And Out Of Control’ (out October 6, 2009 on VICE Records).

FREE Download: “Last Dance MP3″

Reveling in a simultaneous display of bright, gleeful, and melancholic fuzz-distressed pop that could only belong to The Raveonettes, “Last Dance” has already been heralded by SPIN Magazine as “immaculate” and “the most accessible song from them to date” by Spinner.com after its performance at Lollapalooza.

Along with the recently leaked album track “Suicide”, and the series of stripped down teaser performances from the iTunes bonus video featurette The Chelsea Sessions, “Last Dance” provides a promising glimpse of The Raveonettes’ wildly anticipated fourth studio album.

Perhaps their most ambitious release to date, ‘In And Out Of Control’ combines the noir-garage rock sounds of their early releases with the darkness of 2008’s ‘Lust Lust Lust’ for a mixture of 11 equally morose yet ecstatic pop gems.

Following up on the rave reviews of The Raveonettes’ live debut of new album tracks this summer at Lollapalooza, the band will depart for North America this fall (tour dates below).

The perfect stocking filler for Christmas!

Lauren Conrad

Punky Allsorts was created in January 2008 by musician Alayna Salter to meet the demand that was ignited by her music fans after she wore her stylish designs on stage at her gigs.

Alayna believes that every girl should have the opportunity to own something that is personally designed, individually handcrafted and that captivates their own imagination and personality.

Since the launch of Punky Allsorts, the range has attracted a celebrity following including chart topping singer Katy Perry, the Hilton sisters, Lady GaGa and Katy Perry to name a few! LA fashion store Kitson has also snapped up the quirky designs to stock in its uber trendy Robertson Boulevard boutique which has ensured the attention of the jewellery’s status as a must have among the Hollywood set.

Alayna’s unique jewellery has been hand-selected and made with precious materials with care and attention to detail to ensure that you will love them as much as she does!

Alayna’s story

Alayna’s first love is her music, and she’s already attracted a string of collaborations from the teams behind Disney’s High School Musical, Victoria Beckham and the Backstreet Boys. Alayna’s attitude comes candy coated and her music has been descibed as quirky rock with a feisty flavour.

Amazingly, Punky Allsorts was created after fans at her gigs asked Alayna where she got her great designs from. Realising the great potential the jewellery had, Alayna set about building on her designs and launched the brand in January.

She says “If you’re brave and have a great idea, use your initiative and just go for it. I wanted to create a young, fun brand that didn’t follow the rules of the more formal traditional trends and now the success of the jewellery is providing me with great opportunities to further my music career!”

Aussie rockers JET‘s new single, “She’s a Genius,” from their upcoming album, ‘Shaka Rock’, is featured in the new Victoria’s Secret television campaign.

The song has been tapped for a sexy new ad for “Body by Victoria” featuring top super models Marisa Miller, Alessandra Ambrosio, Emanuela de Paula and Lindsay Ellingson.

The commercial is directed by Victoria’s Secret super-director and two time MTV Video Music Award nominee Michael Bernard, and premiered on all major networks including cable.

The tongue in cheek song lends itself perfectly to the fun and sexy themes of one of the world’s hottest brands.

Watch She’s A Genius video:

Victoria’s Secret Music Supervisor Vasili Gavre says, “Victoria’s Secret is really excited that they are the first to license an exclusive JET track in the U.S. before the release of the new album Shaka Rock at the end of August.”

“Victoria’s Secret continues to be one of the hottest brands with the hottest girls in the hottest ads and we couldn’t ask for JET’s first single to be partnered with a better concept for ‘She’s A Genius,’ – supermodels in their underwear,” said Allen Kovac, Manager of JET.

JET has just released their highly anticipated third studio album ‘Shaka Rock’ in the US and September 7, 2009 in the UK on their newly created Real Horrorshow Records/Five Seven Music with distribution through EMI Label Services.

‘Shaka Rock’ captures the charisma and energy of classic rock and roll with just enough punk swagger and contemporary flair to create something uniquely JET.

“She’s A Genius,” is already No 1 in Australia, top 5 in Canada and Japan and rising on the charts at multiple formats in the U.S, Germany, the UK and other territories worldwide.
