Performing the three songs from the ‘Disguise’ EP, the Girl played as part of the Chashama Film Festival‘s opening night festivities. The gig was the curtain raiser for a showing of the new movie ‘Dirty Step Upstage’, in which she appears.

Girl In The Red Dress sings dark-edged pop, setting themes of lost love and heartbreak against unstoppably infectious beats.

Influenced by Nine Inch Nails, Michael Jackson, and Madonna among others, the stories she sings are drawn straight out of real-life anguish.

Her new release was recorded in Chicago and masterminded by acclaimed producer Chris G, while two tracks feature the signature playing of former Dio lead guitarist Rowan Robertson.

The ‘Disguise’ EP is available through iTunes, Soundclick and other online suppliers, with a physical release due shortly.

As the perfect end to the Girl’s New York adventure, ‘Dirty Step Upstage’ collected an award at the festival. Amber Moelter, who plays the Girl and composed the songs on the EP, won the Best Actress award for her work in the film.

About Amber Moelter:

Amber Moelter hails originally from South Dakota, but has performed as an actor, dancer and singer on four continents.

While living in London she starred in several independent films including ‘Cross-Eyed Waltz’ which launched her career as a producer and for which she forfeited her paycheck to help out the director.

After returning to the USA she produced, co-wrote, and starred in the short fan film ‘Catwoman: Resolution,’ which inaugurated her production company ALM Talkies.

Her portrayals of Catwoman have caught the attention of latex fetish fans worldwide and been featured in Marquis magazine and elsewhere.

‘Everybody’ is Ingrid’s first UK release, and will be followed by the single “Maybe” on 16 November.

In the US, she has become probably the most successful unsigned artist in history. SYNOPSIS

Taking Woodstock is directed by Academy Award®-winner Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain) with a screenplay by James Schamus (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Ice Storm), based on the book Taking Woodstock by Elliot Tiber.

The film stars Demetri Martin (Important Things with Demetri Martin on Comedy Central) as Elliot Tiber, Emile Hirsch (Milk, Into the Wild), and Liev Schreiber (Defiance).

It’s 1969, and Elliot Tiber, a down-on-his-luck interior designer in Greenwich Village, New York, has to move back upstate to help his parents run their dilapidated Catskills motel, the El Monaco. The bank is about to foreclose; his father wants to burn the place down, but hasn’t paid the insurance; and Elliot is still figuring how to come out to his parents.

When Elliot hears that a neighboring town has pulled the permit on a hippie music festival, he calls the producers, thinking he could drum up some much needed business for the motel. Three weeks later, half a million people are on their way to his neighbor’s farm in White Lake, NY, and Elliot finds himself swept up in a generation-defining experience that would change his life, and American culture, forever.

You’ve seen it on the streets – just a black square with white text. Two names, a mirror image of themselves. These discreet signs of whoever or whatever refers to itself as PERU ANA ANA PERU are backed up by an eclectic collection of ornately designed pieces of artwork– pasted, fastened, scribbled or dangling to your left or right.

WHO ARE THEY? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

We are often asked these questions. PERU ANA ANA PERU’s use of different mediums is a treat if you enjoy such things and will certainly cut up a neat freak looking to compartmentalize them. Well we may not have all the answers you’ve been searching for, but we do have their first solo show and hope to bring you as close to their identities as you have been so far.

“…And Then We Jumped into the Abyss of Numbers: Memories in Absurdity From the Bowels of Peru Ana Ana Peru”, is the title of their exhibition. A bit long? –Maybe. Very telling? –Yes. Their “abyss of numbers” will explore the unknown, the bizarre and the surreal through multi-media paintings/drawings, sculpture and installations. Video art pieces telling strange narratives will be a key focus of the work and will offer viewers yet another peek into this duo’s collective psyche. This work, harmonious with a gallery space, is also intimately connected to their street presence. At their request, we dizzily revel in the irrational.

As a much added bonus, the soundtrack to the opening night event will be performed by BOMB SQUAD [Hank Shocklee; Future Frequency]. The force behind Public Enemy and some of the most significant albums of all time with a preview of the new upcoming album of futuristic dub and live electronics.

Peru Ana Ana Peru

While Picture Me Broken was not live on stage with Green Day, Beyonce, Muse or Taylor Swift at MTV’s 2009 VMAs, the MTV feature on this high energy young band landed them a hard earned award as the VMAs MTV’s 2009 “SF Best Bay Area Breakout Artist”. The award was sponsored by Our Stage and MTV.

Picture Me Broken which is fronted by LAYLA BROOKLYN ALLMAN, (the 16-year old daughter of legendary R&R Hall of Famer GREGG ALLMAN), and their song “Dearest (I’m So Sorry)” whose live video was featured on MTV2 has been blazing a trail with teen fans that can instantly relate to both the sentiment of the lyrics and the scorching delivery of the track.

The band started out as four 12-year olds playing covers for fun, but fueled by passion and determination, they have emerged as a serious contender.

“She’s got it in her blood…” remarks her famous father, who most likely is all but unknown to PMB’s growing legion of young fans!

PMB has played prestigious SF venues like “Bottom of the Hill,” grabbed an opening slot at the Shoreline Amphitheatre for Linkin Park’s Project Rev in 2008 and more recently played the 2009 SF Warped Tour.

Now they have just released their debut EP, DEAREST I’M SO SORRY.

As if reacting to the frightening state of the world they are growing up in, PICTURE ME BROKEN’S debut EP contains rites of passage themes, in the language of their peers.

Largely produced by Aveneged Sevenfold’s producer Mudrock (the title track was produced by Aaron Hellman at the Bay Area’s own Castle Ultimate Studios), the EP displays that it’s not only Layla Allman who’s talented, good-looking and charismatic, but the rest of the band members level the playing field: NICK LOIACONO (lead guitar), AUSTIN DUNN (bass) and CONNOR LUNG (drums).

Indeed, Picture Me Broken’s music all but redefines what will be expected from “kid bands” as there is nothing about PMB’s catchy driving rock that separates them from significantly more seasoned acts. Nothing shows this off more poignantly than the growing fan base on www.myspace.com/picturemebroken which continues to rave with surprise that there is a new band out there fronted by a “hot girl who can sing AND scream.”

Picture Me Broken will be featured on the front page of Purevolume.com on Sept 18, 2009 performing the first of many Hot Topic appearances on Sept 17th, and hosting an industry showcase in Los Angeles on October 16th 2009.

Formed by Underoath drummer Aaron Gillespie along with guitarists Jay Vilardi and Dusty Redmon, bassist Alex Aponte and newest member, drummer Joe Musten, The Almost’s ‘Monster Monster’ represents the culmination of two years of touring, with the resulting disc a melding of the group’s individual talents into a truly collaborative effort. Before the release, The Almost will release a new video to fans, which will be followed by their lead anthemic rock single “Hands.”

The album is slated for release on November 3, 2009, but will be preceded by a Limited Edition special five-track EP entitled the Monster EP, featuring three album cuts and two B-sides. The EP will be available on October 6th exclusively at Hot Topic stores, the band’s website, as well as on the band’s upcoming tour.

The Monster EP will come in a special two-disc digi-pack, with a choice of five different covers.

“We plan on hitting it as hard as we can,” says Vilardi. “We’d like to leave and not come back for two years.”

No doubt die-hard fans of the Danish noise-pop duo The Raveonettes trembled with excitement when they previewed a demo version of “Last Dance” this June.

Three months later, the band is releasing the final version of the song as the lead off single from their forthcoming album ‘In And Out Of Control’ (out October 6, 2009 on VICE Records).
